How Does eMatrix™ Skin Resurfacing Work?
eMatrix™ is the first fractionated radiofrequency laser device on the market for all skin colors and all skin types. If you have genetically darker skin, the risk of laser-induced hyper or hypopigmentation—the reaction of melanin with certain light-based laser treatments that creates darker or lighter patches on the skin—has limited the range of treatments you can receive. Even with cooling mechanisms, light-based lasers react with the skin’s pigment. eMatrix™ is different because it uses radiofrequency (RF) energy which bypasses the topmost layer of skin to react with deeper tissues, and pigment-producing cells do not absorb RF energy at all.
eMatrix™ is fractionated, which means it creates a controlled grid of micro-injuries deep into the dermis, where collagen and elastin are produced. This prompts the skin’s healing response and stimulates new collagen and elastin fibers for significant tissue rejuvenation. These fibers are responsible for the skin’s structural support, so the more fibrous the collagen network, the firmer, more youthful your skin appears. eMatrix™ can also improve fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, and acne scarring.

What is the eMatrix™ Procedure Like?
The eMatrix™ RF laser system is highly customizable, allowing patients and providers to set how mild or aggressive they want the treatment. Milder treatments feel like warm, prickly sensations, whereas more aggressive treatments may feel like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Sessions are fast, lasting 10-20 minutes depending on the coverage required for your treatment area. Patients who opt for less aggression may require more sessions to reach their goals.

Is There Any Downtime?
Because of eMatrix’s™ customizable nature, downtime varies. Clients can anticipate 4-5 days of social downtime—no activity restrictions, but with redness and potential skin crusting, you may not wish to be social—with moderately aggressive treatments. Up to 1 week is suggested for those with the highest RF energy density.
What Results Can I Expect?*
Your results will be two-fold. You’ll immediately experience some redness, mild swelling, and skin crusting. Your skin’s improvements begin to emerge after a few days of healing. Because collagen and elastin take time to rebuild, you’ll see continued improvements to your skin’s firmness and smoothness for up to 5 months.
