What's the difference between Botox, Dysport and Xeomin?
If you’re looking to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on your face, you may have heard of Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. These are all injectables that are used to temporarily improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. They are all neuromodulators, which means they work by inhibiting the activity of the muscles that cause wrinkles.
Let’s start with Botox.
It’s the most well-known and widely used neuromodulator. Botox is injected into the muscles of the face and works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to those muscles, causing them to relax and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It’s most commonly used to treat wrinkles between the eyebrows (also known as “frown lines” or “11s”), crow’s feet around the eyes, and forehead lines. However there are also other approved medical uses for Botox, such as under the arm to help manage excessive sweating.
Dysport is another popular wrinkle-reducing option.
It’s made by Galderma and works in a similar way to Botox. Some people find that Dysport is more effective and results appear sooner than with Botox – some reporting 2 – 3 days. Dysport is often used for helping to diminish the glabellar lines, the frown lines between your eyebrows. Dysport is a great option for those who have moderate to severe frown lines. Like Botox, Dysport is injected into the muscles of the face to reduce or prevent the onset of wrinkles.
Xeomin is another neuromodulator made by Merz Aesthetics.
It works similar to Botox and Dysport and is injected into the muscles of the face to relax them and improve the appearance of wrinkles. The main difference between Xeomin and Botox has to do with how it’s formulated. Xeomin is said to be “more pure and natural.” This is due to the fact that Xeomin contains a single ingredient (botulinum toxin A), while the formulation of Botox includes various protective proteins clustered around the active molecule.
All of these injectables are effective at improving the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, but the best one for you depends on your preferences and your practitioner’s opinion. The aesthetics providers at Baltic Beauty Centre can provide guidance on the best treatment for you. Some people may find that one product works better for them than another. It’s important to talk with your practitioner about your goals and any concerns you may have to find the best product for you.

It’s also worth noting that these injectables are temporary and the effects usually last for about three to six months. After that, the treatment will need to be repeated in order to maintain the desired results.
In summary, Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are all great options for reducing wrinkles and fine lines on your face. It’s important to have a conversation with your medical aesthetics provider to find the best product for you and to understand the risks and benefits of treatment.
