What is the Recovery Time with Microdermabrasion?
Looking for a relaxing way to rejuvenate your skin and restore its youthful glow? Microdermabrasion is a great option. It’s essentially an exfoliating treatment that can remove the outermost layer of your dead skin to reveal beautiful, healthy skin.Â
You can use it to treat a variety of skin concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, enlarged pores, and hyperpigmentation. Keep reading to learn more about how microdermabrasion works and what kind of recovery period you can expect.
How Microdermabrasion Works
After thoroughly cleansing your treatment area, one of our expert providers will gently glide a special handheld device over your skin to exfoliate your skin and remove a superficial layer of dry, dead skin cells. We recommend microdermabrasion treatments on your face, neck, and chest every 3 to 4 weeks as you cannot achieve optimal results with just one treatment.
Once you’ve completed a microdermabrasion treatment, your face may be a bit red. The good news is that this redness will fade away on its own in less than an hour and you’ll be able to resume work and your daily activities right away.Â
Compared to many skincare treatments, microdermabrasion comes with virtually no pain or downtime. Many patients find it to be quite relaxing and state that it feels like a slight scratching sensation on their skin.

Good Candidates for Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion may be a good option if you are bothered by fine lines and wrinkles and would like to look younger. It can also minimize the appearance of enlarged pores and control as well as prevent acne on your back or face.Â
If you are facing sun damage and hyperpigmentation, this may be a beneficial treatment as well. In addition, it’s an excellent choice if your goal is to look rejuvenated before a graduation, wedding, birthday party, or another special event.
We do not recommend microdermabrasion if you are facing active acne, rosacea, sunburns, uncontrolled diabetes, cold sores, or psoriasis. During a consultation, we can inform you whether microdermabrasion is the right treatment for your unique aesthetic goals.
