How Long Will My Botox® Results Last?

While you may not see effects until later in life, repetitive facial expressions create lines and wrinkles. Botox® treats these lines by relaxing the facial muscles, stopping lines and wrinkles from appearing. This popular injectable treatment can help you look years younger in one fifteen-minute session.

What is Botox®?

Botox® is an injectable muscle relaxer used to treat expression lines and wrinkles. This FDA-approved treatment stops repetitive muscle motions that create these wrinkles. You may also hear Botox® referred to as a neurotoxin. While it does act on facial nerves and muscles, it causes no harmful effects. Botox® will wear off and leave no lasting impact unless you choose to maintain it.

How Does Botox® Work?

Botox® works by stopping signals from facial nerves to muscles. Facial muscles contract in response to nerve signals. Botox® uses a protein called botulinum toxin to block the facial nerves from communicating with the target muscles. As a result, the area becomes smooth and relaxed, and the muscle will remain in this relaxed state as long as your Botox® lasts. Because it only affects targeted facial muscles, Botox® will not limit your regular facial expressions.

How Long Will My Botox® Results Last?

You can expect your Botox® results to become visible within seven to ten days. Full results can take up to two weeks to develop. Botox® lasts three to six months for most people. If you are new to Botox®, results typically last three to four months. Someone who has had previous treatments may find that results last up to six months.

What Can Botox® Treat?

Botox® has many cosmetic and medical uses. At Baltic Beauty Centre, we use Botox® to treat:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Creases between the brows (glabellar lines)

Is There Any Downtime With Botox®?

Botox® treatments usually take about fifteen minutes. You can return to work or your usual activities immediately. You might see some red spots, bruising, or sensitivity in the injection area for a day or two. We may recommend that you avoid rubbing your face for a few hours post-treatment to prevent moving the Botox® from its intended position.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox®?

If you want to relax expression lines and wrinkles, you may be a good candidate for Botox®. This injectable treatment can help you look younger without invasive procedures or recovery time. You may not make a good candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
